Sterility

sterilität

Sterility, simply put, is the inability to conceive a child within a year despite unprotected intercourse. On the other hand, infertility is the inability to carry out a conceived child to term. We talk about infertility in a man when he cannot procreate a child and subfertility when his seminal power is low but not excluded. Organic factors, such as congested or functionally impaired Fallopian tubes, a malformed uterus or endometriosis, cause sterility in about 30% of the cases; functional disorders and genetic deficiencies, which effect the maturation of the ova or the function of the yellow body, cause sterility in about 40% of the cases, and 40% cases constitute the male infertility and subfertility. From the aforementioned facts it can be seen that the causes overlap, i.e. that often several factors can be the cause of sterility.

Our experience has proved that an important role is played by the interaction between the psychosocial and the organic factors (see The Psychosomatic Treatment Concept).
